We're
experienced
We know the fund management business inside out. We've been
building up our knowledge and skills for more than 30 years. Over
that time, we've evolved. We started out by providing balanced and
indexed funds for UK pension funds. Now we also specialise in
traditional investment funds and alternative investments.
We're
innovative
Gartmore has been running absolute
return portfolios for institutional and professional investors
since the late 1990s. As an early adopter of alternative investment
strategies, we pioneered an approach of running more traditional
equity and bond funds alongside absolute return portfolios. We were
also one of the first managers in the UK with experience of
absolute return strategies to offer these talents to retail clients
through UCITS III.
We have a history of investing in markets before others. We were
the first to launch an investment trust investing specifically in
Ireland, ahead of its boom. We were one of the first to set up
China specific funds in 1983, and also the first to introduce a UK
registered emerging markets fund in 1987.
We give our fund managers more
freedom
Good fund managers are flexible, pragmatic and thrive on change.
For them, every change is an opportunity. That's why our fund
managers have more freedom to follow their own views. They've built
up specialist knowledge over years in the industry. So it doesn't
make sense to tie them down with a 'house style' that dictates how
they should invest. It stifles talent. Instead, we split our
investment specialists into small teams, each looking after a
particular area. They make their own decisions, based on their own
views and skills, spotting opportunities missed by others. But they
are supported by our independent investment risk team and Chief
Investment Officer.

simple as possible. We know that past performance is not a guide to
future performance and that the value of investments can go down as
