In June this year we were pleased to announce the
appointment of John Bennett as a Senior Portfolio Manager in our
European Equities Team.
John has been managing European equities for 20 years and joins
Gartmore from GAM, where he has spent the last 16 years. At GAM,
John managed the GAM Star European Equity Fund and the GAM Star
Continental European Equity Fund, both of which were AAA rated by
Standard & Poor's.
John will arrive at Gartmore early in January 2010 with lead
management responsibility for the Gartmore European Selected
Opportunities Fund and the Gartmore SICAV Continental European
Fund.
At the end of September we also announced that John's pan
European Equity Analyst Team at GAM will be joining John at
Gartmore in the New Year. The team comprises Asim Rahman and
Christian Billinger as Investment Analysts and Eleanor Cameron as
Manager (Dealing & Operations). They will assist John with his
management responsibility for the Gartmore European Selected
Opportunities and Gartmore SICAV Continental European Funds.
The Funds' current managers, Roger Guy and Guillaume Rambourg,
remain fully committed to the management of these funds. When John
arrives, Roger and Guillaume will concentrate on their growing list
of alternative and institutional mandates. These include three
hedge funds (Capella, Tucana, and Acamar), two recently launched
European Absolute Return Mutual Funds, the Gartmore European
Investment Trust p.l.c. and several institutional mandates.
John has a similar investment approach to Roger and Guillaume,
focusing on large companies, and brings a wealth of experience
along with a successful track record in European equities. Gartmore
already has one of the strongest European equity franchises in the
market. This appointment is further evidence of Gartmore's
commitment to investing in fund manager talent.
We are delighted that John and his team have chosen to join
Gartmore.
